A British fighter jet had to be scrambled after a Pakistan International Airlines plane flying from Lahore was diverted, according to multiple reports.
Reuters reports that Flight PK709 was carrying 297 people and was due to land at Manchester Airport at 12.30pm GMT. The plane has since safely landed at Stanstead Airport, the UK's designated counter terrorism airport.
Essex Police confirmed that two men have been arrested on suspicion of endangerment of an aircraft, according to BNO News.
The Guardian reports that the incident was not terrorism related and that the pilot had become concerned about an unruly passenger who had begun shouting on the flight.
All passengers are reported to have left the plane unharmed.
A tweeted picture from the scene shows police cars surrounding the plane, which has been taken to an isolated area.
